Guidelines for writing case studies

Jochem Willemsen, Elena Della Rosa, and Sue Kegerreis from the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies (University of Essex) were invited by Frontiers in Psychology to write a review paper on clinical case studies in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapy. The paper summarizes how the case study method is being applied in different schools of psychoanalysis, and clarifies the unique strengths of this method and areas for improvement. The core of the paper consists in nine guidelines for future case study authors, including examples drawn from the literature. The paper is very useful for research students and clinicians who are planning to write a case study. The manuscript is available (open access) to download through this link: http://journal.frontiersin.org/article/10.3389/fpsyg.2017.00108/full#
